Toronto, ON — Light the Girl Productions is thrilled to announce that acclaimed filmmaker and actor Josh Close has joined the team as the screenwriter for Everything Beautiful Is Not Ruined, based on the award-winning novel by Danielle Younge-Ullman.
Josh Close balances his career between acting, writing, and directing. Behind the camera, he has directed multiple festival-touring shorts and a documentary starring Jeremy Renner. His feature In Their Skin, starring Selma Blair and James D’Arcy, won Best Narrative Film at the Tribeca Film Festival, and he was nominated for a Leo Award for his work on Anthem of a Teenage Prophet.
As an actor, Close most recently wrapped a lead role on Plan B, a limited series opposite Patrick J. Adams and François Arnaud. He can also be seen in the independent feature Monica opposite Patricia Clarkson and Emily Browning, which premiered to rave reviews at the Venice International Film Festival. Close stars as Leonardo DiCaprio’s youngest brother in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, and he appears in Little Lorraine, directed by Andy Hines, which will premiere at TIFF50 this year.
With Close penning the screenplay, Everything Beautiful Is Not Ruined promises to bring a deeply emotional, cinematic lens to Ingrid’s transformative journey of resilience, music, and survival.
